HHC - thin ice for sellers?
HHC - known/unknown
Some cannabis ingredients and products are not a big deal. Hexahydrocannabinol is different. Its future is uncertain. So far, it's holding on to the legal side by its teeth, but it's hard to predict what's in store for it. There is relatively little information on HHC. And most of it doesn't provide facts, just assumptions and conjecture. Nothing is confirmed, and research and studies leave the back door open in case things turn out differently in the end. There is no consensus on the legality of cannabis, even if it is a natural ingredient.
The information is not comprehensive and there are not many studies. While some have hinted at possible pain relief, user reviews are much more common, with people mainly highlighting a burst of energy, improved concentration and relief of tension and chronic pain. However, the research is only on rats and it is impossible to verify in humans if paranoia, dry mouth or hunger and red eyes do not occur alongside the positive effects. The similarity between THC and HHC cannot be denied. Hexahydrocannabinol is weaker, but without expert opinion it is still teetering on the edge.
It is the many commonalities with THC that are a big plus. HHC copies it in many ways, but it is weaker. It can counteract pain and inflammation, anxiety and nausea. They have almost the same therapeutic profile. But unlike THC, HHC users have not experienced serious side effects. Thus, the rising popularity of hexahydrocannabinol is tempting retailers to include products from this category in their product range.
HHC and testing - its biggest attraction?
Equally vague is the fact that HHC makes it possible to bypass a drug test. There is a lot of information and hope circulating among users, but nothing has been confirmed and it is dangerous to rely on it. In the US, advertisements go quite far and claim that HHC does not convert to the metabolite that drug tests are supposed to detect. Officially, however, none of this can be claimed.
HHC bears a striking resemblance to THC, and the effects are similar. But unlike it, it is legal and growing in popularity among dealers and users.
Can you play by the rules with HHC?
Each country has its own rules and is careful in relation to cannabis and regulates the standards so that everything is within the law and none of the substances involved can be abused. While HHC is legal and available for the time being and sellers and users are not at risk of sanctions, the situation can change very quickly. There is a big question mark hanging over hexahydrocannabinol and it may get the stop sign almost immediately after a study comes out confirming adverse or negative effects on the human body or the possibility of circumventing drug tests. Domestic laws may also be affected by settings in foreign countries. Hexahydrocannabinol can be taken in several forms, but HHC vape in particular has received a lot of attention.
It doesn't help that HHC is actually based on what studies show is safe CBD, which is used for the chemical reaction. Hexahydrocannabinol is simply on the edge, and there's no sign of that changing for the better anytime soon. It is a synthetic cannabinoid with many characteristics similar to THC. It is one of the components of cannabis where user reviews carry more weight than research that has shown nothing substantial or is reluctant to give a clear opinion on HHC. As of July 2022, it is therefore legal and not on the list of addictive substances. However, the "expiry date" by which this opinion will be valid and HHC therefore legal is unknown.
