What is 10-OH-HHCP?

10-hydroxy-hexahydrocannabiphorol, abbreviated 10-OH-HHCP, is a hydroxy derivative of hexahydrocannabiphorol (HHCP). This derivative is formed by enzymatic oxidation of HHCP under the influence of cytochrome P450, which is primarily found in the liver. During this biochemical process, one hydroxyl group (-OH) is attached at the 10th position.

The chemical synthesis from HHCP is the basis for the production of commercially available 10-OH-HHCP products.

HHCP is a derivative of hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) and has a 2-carbon longer alkyl chain in comparison.

10-OH-HHCP is psychoactive and can affect perception, induce feelings of euphoria, relaxation or increase appetite, similar to its related compounds (10-OH-HHC, 8-OH-HHC), but probably with a weaker intensity than HHCP, HHC or THC.

Compared to products containing 10-OH-HHC, 10-OH-HHCP products offer slightly more intense effects, which according to a 2018 study could be related to the length of the side chain of the cannabinoid compounds.
