What is THCJD, what are its effects and what are the risks? What products can you offer customers?

What is THCJD and how is it made?

THCJD, or tetrahydrocannabidiol, is a new cannabinoid that is said to be found in trace amounts in the cannabis plant, but is currently produced from other, more readily available cannabinoids, such as CBD, like other semi-synthetic cannabinoids.

However, it is also possible that THCJD is just a more recent name for a substance called THC-Octyl/delta 8-THC-C8, discovered in 1941.

THCJD is a homologue of the cannabinoid THC (delta-9-THC). Homologues are compounds of the same type with similar chemical structure and properties. The main difference between THCJD and THC is the slightly different chemical structure. While THC has a side chain composed of five carbons, THCJD has as many as eight. Some research suggests that the longer the carbon side chain, the greater the affinity of the cannabinoid for the CB1 receptor in the endocannabinoid system. And that brings us to how THCJD works.

What are the effects of THCJD?

First of all, it is important to point out that there are no studies to date that have looked at how THCJD affects the body. However, if we assume that THCJD is indeed more active at CB1 receptors than the better known cannabinoid THC, this could mean that THCJD will produce stronger psychoactive effects

According to customer testimony, THCJD can influence perception and mood, induce euphoria or induce a feeling of relaxation

We know that psychoactive cannabinoids are also associated with a risk of adverse effects. For example, red eyes, dry mouth, increased heart rate, anxiety or paranoia may occur after taking them. However, other unpleasant effects are not excluded and we are not yet aware of them, as there is no relevant information on how THCJD work.

THCJD products that can be included in the range

THCJD gummies, tinctures, THCJD-infused flowers, vapes, cartridges, hash, and even chocolate can already be found in foreign wholesalers. Meanwhile, our wholesaler has prepared for you vape pens and cartridges with a combination of THCJD and CBD distillate, with natural terpenes. We'll also soon be adding flowers, hash, oils, and THCJD-infused spirits to the range. Our products contain less than 0.2% THC and are therefore legal.

Laboratory analysis of THCJD

Even though THCJD products have only recently appeared on the market, customers are already taking an interest and sending in their first orders. Expanding your product range to include this cannabinoid may be a good idea at the moment, as competition is still minimal. In fact, many retailers are waiting to offer more well-known or established cannabinoids such as CBD, H4CBD or CBN.

It should be added that in the case of new (semi-synthetic) cannabinoids, laboratory analysis is essential. Make sure that the goods you offer have been tested by an independent third party, or arrange for lab testing yourself, before placing the goods on your e-shop. Although there is very little information on the effects of THCJD, at least the analysis will ensure that the products are free of undesirable substances such as solvents, pesticides, heavy metals or mold.
