What is 10-OH-HHC?
10-OH-HHC, also known as 10-hydroxy-hexahydrocannabinol, is a derivative of HHC (hexahydrocannabinol). It is formed when HHC is oxidized by the liver enzyme cytochrome P450. During this reaction, a hydroxyl group is added to the tenth carbon of the hexahydrocannabinol nucleus. The hydroxyl group consists of one oxygen atom covalently bonded to one hydrogen atom.
Scientists were able to isolate this compound from cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.) in 2015, along with other oxygenated cannabinoids.
10-OH-HHC has low bioavailability and a short half-life in the body. The half-life is the time it takes for the concentration of cannabinoids to halve in the blood due to metabolism and excretion.
Effects of 10-OH-HHC
Research on 10-OH-HHC is still in its early stages, and it is thought to exhibit cannabimimetic activity, meaning it may mimic the effects of THC and other cannabinoids. The cannabinoid 10-OH-HHC has psychoactive effects, although probably less intense than HHC or THC.
Users may experience euphoria, relaxation, changes in perception or increased appetite. Many cannabinoids have the potential to relieve pain or inflammation by working with CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system. It is possible that the compound 10-OH-HHC has a similar ability, but there is no evidence for this yet, so this is still speculation, not information supported by scientific studies. We do not yet know what receptors 10-OH-HHC acts on and with what potency.
The effects will depend on the route of administration, in addition to a number of other factors such as the age, sex or metabolism of the individual. When taken orally, a greater amount of the cannabinoid 10-OH-HHC may be converted to inactive 10-carboxy-HHC compared to inhalation or sublingual absorption.
Side effects of 10-OH-HHC
Since the cannabinoid 10-OH-HHC has not yet been studied, we cannot say much about possible side effects. As it is a cannabinoid with psychoactive effects, we are relying on the knowledge we have of analogue compounds. You should always warn your customers about possible side effects.
After taking 10-OH-HHC, the following may occur:
- Fatigue
- Dry mouth
- Changes in perception
- Increased heart rate
- Nausea
- Anxiety and paranoia
This list may not be complete, and other side effects may occur that have not yet been identified.
10-OH-HHC vs. HHC
Some customers will probably ask how 10-OH-HHC differs from HHC. As we have already discussed, the main difference lies in the chemical structure. The cannabinoid 10-OH-HHC has an extra hydroxyl group compared to HHC.
Based on initial experience, 10-OH-HHC appears to have milder psychoactive effects than HHC. It also has a short half-life in the body, so the effects are likely to last for a shorter time than those of HHC.
The two cannabinoids may have a lot in common. The table below gives a hint.

Products that interest customers
With HHC, HHC-O or THCP banned in many countries, consumers are looking for affordable alternatives. As for 10-OH-HHC products, you can offer them for example:
- Vaporising pens
- Cartridge
- Hash
- Gummies
- Flowers with 10-OH-HHC distillate
- Pre-rolls (pre-rolled joints)
Conclusion
After a number of European countries banned the possession, sale and use of HHC, users are looking for other options to relieve discomfort or induce relaxation. One of the options is cannabinoid 10-OH-HHC products, which are filling the shelves of cannabis stores and e-shops these days.
We offer 10-OH-HHC in premium quality. You can enrich your product range with the novelty of vaporizing pens, cartridges, hashes or flowers. You can choose from different varieties and terpene profiles, just as you are used to when buying other cannabinoids.
It should be added that no information is yet available on the exact effects of 10-OH-HHC on the human body and the risks of long-term use. Customers should be made aware of this fact and urged to approach the new cannabinoids with caution.
Due to the unclear legal status of new cannabinoids, we also recommend that you keep an eye on legislative developments and always comply with the current regulations in your country.
